I grew up on a New England dairy farm in the 1950's with assigned chores and responsibilities. An environment that created a strong work ethic and has stood me well for over half a century.
The U.S.Navy called to me in the early 60's and provided my first taste of Information Technology at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. writing software for IBM 7090 computers (considered large scale at the time) using assembler and Fortran. I can safely say that over the years many software environments have been duplicated on many different platforms and given different names, but very few 'new' ideas have come out of this process.
My career has spanned over 40 years of deep experience in many operating systems, languages and database environments from main-frame computers to personal computers - always with a goal of extending the envelope, thinking out of the box, to provide a rich end-user product making the computer do as much of the repetitive work as possible.
